    Description

1985 Willie Stargell Game Worn Pittsburgh Pirates Coach's Jersey from The Joseph O'Toole Collection. A seven-time All-Star, two-time World Champion and 1979 Most Valuable Player of the National League, the NLCS and the World Series, Stargell broke a million Pittsburgh hearts when he announced his retirement in 1982. This home white knit finds Pops three seasons later, serving in his final term as a coach for the only Major League team he'd ever known.

"Pirates 8" adorns the chest in black on yellow tackle twill, with "Stargell 8" similarly applied to verso. Lower left front tail bears "Rawlings [size] 48" label with "Set 1 1985" and "2 Inch Extra Length" tags to the right and an "8 85" swatch above. Great pilling at the belt line assures multiple games of wear. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Letter of provenance from Joseph O'Toole's son.
