1985 Wade Boggs Game Worn Boston Red Sox Jersey. As far as contact hitters go, Wade Boggs ranks near the top. The Chicken Man made a science out of hitting a baseball just out of the infielder's reach on a regular basis. In 1985, Boggs had his finest offensive output in a Hall of Fame career. He hit at a career-high .368 clip, wrapped out 240 hits (26 more than any other season) and was fourth in the MVP balloting. Plenty of those hits came when Boggs donned this "Wilson size 42" road representation. Moderate fraying appears on the team name. Worth special mention is the placement of the name. From 1979-83, "BOS" was separated by "TON" in the middle. This changed in 1984, when there was no gap between the team name. "26" is carefully placed on the reverse in single-color dark blue tackle twill. The collar features a Wilson size tag while the tail showcases an "85" square year reference. Hitters come and go, but very few can match the keen eye of Boggs. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
