1984 Gary Carter Game Worn Montreal Expos Jersey & Pants from The Gary Carter Collection. This uniform dates from The Kid's halcyon days in Montreal when he was recognized as the game's best catcher. In 1984, he unleashed perhaps his greatest season as a pro while wearing this uniform. The record books say he smashed twenty-seven home runs, led the National League with 106 runs batted in, while registering a .294 batting average, the highest of his nineteen-year MLB career. At the end of this All-Star season, Carter was off to The Big Apple where the Mets had made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Button-down, white knit has the classic Expos logo over the left chest with Carter's singular "8" offset to the right. Blue and red stretchy stripes adorn the sleeves and sides with "Carter 8" staking claim to the verso in blue tackle twill. There is a "Rawlings 46" tag in the collar and an "84" year swatch in the right tail. An "X" has been penned inside the left tail in black sharpie, an indication that the jersey may have been an extra set. Matching pants have a "Rawlings 24" manufacturers tag and a "Set 1 1984" flag tag in the waist along with two striking rectangular, red swatch tags: "Carter 8" and "32 25 84." This uniform exhibits very nice game wear, including dirt marks, that is representative of Carter's style of play. Letter of provenance from Sandy Carter. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
