1984 Bob Horner Game Worn & Signed Atlanta Braves Jersey & Cap Lot of 2. A great baseball talent, Bob Horner was a two-time All-America selection in 1977-78, the MVP of the 1977 College World Series, the inaugural Golden Spikes Award winner in 1978, and the first pick of the 1978 MLB Amateur Draft. One of just a handful of players to go directly from college into the starting lineup of a Major League ballclub, he hit a home run off of future Hall of Famer Bert Blyleven in his very first big league game, was named the 1978 N.L. Rookie of the Year, an All-Star in 1982, and in 1986 he hit four home runs in a single game. Years later, he would receive a sizeable settlement stemming from a lawsuit filed against MLB owners for collusion.

Horner's game worn Atlanta Braves jersey and cap on offer here date from the 1984 season. The home white pullover reports "Braves 5" on the front and "Horner 5' on the verso, all sewn-on in blue/white tackle twill trimmed in red. Red/white/blue trim adorns the v-neck collar and sleeve cuffs. Tagging includes "Wilson 46" and "Tapered" in the collar, and an "84" year swatch in the tail. Best of all is the large, black armband on the left sleeve (covering the sleeve trim) in remembrance of the late Tommie Aaron. The front of the jersey is signed in bold blue sharpie. The "New Era...Pro Model" cap, with faded size tag and "5" in vintage black marker under the brim, features a blue/white crown and an "a" embroidered in red/white/blue. Both piece exhibit fine game wear. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.LOA from Heritage Auctions.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
