1983 Mike Schmidt Game Worn Philadelphia Phillies Jersey--Photo Matched!UPDATE: The jersey has been photo matched to an undated image of Schmidt taking batting practice before a game during the 1983 season.
In 1983, Schmidt led the N.L. in homer runs (forty), walks (128) and on-base percentage (.399), while earning his eighth All-Star berth and leading his Phillies to a ninety-win season and the N.L. pennant. Following the season, he captured his eighth Gold Glove award and placed third in the league MVP balloting.
Presented here is a Schmidt gamer from that memorable campaign. Home white zipper-front knit sports "20 P" across the chest and "Schmidt 20" on the verso, all sewn-on in maroon tackle twill. Maroon trim decorates the shoulders, arms and sides, while the Phillies centennial sits on the left sleeve. Tagging includes a "Schmidt" swatch in the collar with a "Wilson 44" label and a "83 1" swatch in the tail.
While this exemplar exhibits solid overall wear, the Phillies 100th anniversary patch exhibits extreme fading which is not consistent with the wear on the rest of the jersey. However, this is probably a result of incorrect laundering and should not be a cause for concern.
