1983 Johnny Bench Game Worn & Signed Cincinnati Reds Jersey with Bench COA, MEARS A10.UPDATE: This jersey now has an LOA from MEARS, A10.
Johnny Bench is the gold standard for baseball catchers of any era. At nineteen, he was repositioning veteran infielders and advising star pitchers. By the time he was twenty, he had redefined how to play the position. Even now, long after his playing days have past and his ten Gold Gloves, two MVP's, and two World Series championships have been committed to memory, Bench still matters.
Presented here is a home white knit pullover worn by Johnny during his final MLB campaign. Sewn-on red tackle twill and white chenille identifiers include team logo and "5" across the chest with "Bench 5" on the verso. Red/white trim decorates the v-neck collar and sleeve cuffs with a "Rawlings 44" label and "Set 1 1983" flag tag in the tail. Inscribed and signed "Catch Ya Later, Johnny Bench" in vintage black sharpie. Exhibits light wear.
Certificate of authenticity signed by Bench reads: "I, Johnny Bench, certify that this was my last Cincinnati Reds uniform. I used this uniform in the 1983 season." COA from Johnny Bench. LOA from Heritage Auctions. LOA from MEARS, A10. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
