1982 Wade Boggs Game Worn Boston Red Sox Rookie Jersey. The great Cal Ripken, Jr. would take American League Rookie of the Year honors in 1982, but Boggs was close behind and would eventually join the Iron Man in both the 3,000 Hit Club and the Baseball Hall of Fame. It goes without saying that any rookie jersey from a Cooperstown enshrinee carries enormous historical importance, and this home white knit is certainly no exception. The jersey exhibits good wear from the young first baseman's debut season at Fenway. "Red Sox" is announced across the chest in the classic Old English font, with number "26" similarly applied in two-tone tackle twill to verso. A well-worn "Wilson [size] 42" label is affixed at lower left exterior tail, just above an embroidered "82" swatch denoting that important first season. With evident wear and ideal vintage, this is a dream piece for the discriminating jersey collector. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
