1982 Gaylord Perry Game Worn Seattle Mariners Jersey. Though he retired with over 300 wins, over 3,500 strikeouts, Gaylord Perry will always be associated with that most curious and naughty of all pitches - the spitball. Even today, the debate still lingers as to whether or not he actually threw it as often as people thought he did. What is not up for debate is the fact that Perry was a highly skilled pitcher who recorded five twenty-win seasons and two Cy Young awards (one in each league).

Important home white knit pullover dates to the season in which the Hall of Fame spitballer posted his 300th victory, assuring his future Cooperstown induction. Exhibiting light but definite wear from Perry's twenty-first Major League season, the jersey provides a uniquely fonted "Mariners 36" in blue and yellow tackle twill on the chest, with "Perry 36" taking up the rear. Appearing at the lower front left tail is the proper "Rawlings 46" manufacturer's/size label, with "Set 1 1982" flap tag affixed at right. This exemplar exhibits wear, primarily in the form of fraying to the identifiers. Don't be concerned that the identifiers remain stiff as this is due to the density of the triple sewn-on twill.

One of the first athletes to market his own game worn uniforms, Perry ordered and wore more than the standard number of jerseys typically allotted a player for the 1982 season, as he knew he would be entering the 300-Win Club that year. As such, he was wearing one jersey per game or per start for 1982-83. This bodes well for collectors who now have a greater opportunity to own a Perry gamer from this historic campaign.
