1980 Phil Niekro Game Worn & Signed Atlanta Braves Jersey. When Phil Niekro was coming of age, few pitchers threw the knuckle ball because it was just as hard for pitchers to throw and catchers to catch as it was for even the best players to hit. In fact, one of the reasons Knucksie toiled in the minors for so long was because his catchers were unable to handle the fluttering trajectory of his wicked floaters. Catcher Bob Uecker once remarked that the best way to catch Phil's knuckler was to "wait until it stops rolling and then pick it up."

Niekro pitched in the Major Leagues for twenty-four seasons, past the age of forty-eight, and recorded 318 W's, 3,342 K's and only 1,809 walks. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987.

This powder blue "Wilson size 44" knit saw action in 1980 when Niekro won a Gold Glove. The team name and the numbers are created in two-color blue-on-white tackle twill. A Wilson size tag is sewn in the collar while the tail sports an "80" year tag. Niekro signed the bottom in blue felt tip and added "Knucksie" as well. The reverse numbers show good puckering.
