1979 Gary Carter Game Worn Montreal Expos Jersey. Blessed with an infectious smile which could carry a baseball team, Gary Carter was a leader wherever he went. Carter first made his impression on the baseball world when he surfaced with the Montreal Expos in 1974. From there he built a Hall of Fame career as a catcher. The Kid donned this "Wilson size 44" jersey in 1979 in front of the home crowd. The Expos began using names on the backs of their jerseys in 1978 and introduced shoulder striping two years later. The team insignia is created in three-color formation while the other features are single-color. Pilling marks are just above the "C" in Carter's name from rubbing against his chest protector. Lighter pilling is visible just above the "E" and "R" as well. A Rawlings size tag, exhibiting moderate wear, is sewn in the collar while the inside tail has a "1979 Set 2" flag tag. LOA from Heritage Auctions.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
