Description

1979 Fred Lynn Game Worn Boston Red Sox Jersey. He was the Rookie of the Year and American League MVP during the pennant-winning season of 1975, but his 1979 campaign was arguably even better, containing his sole batting title (.333) and career-high tallies for home runs (39) and RBI's (122). So this road grey knit was never a welcome site to the fans who filled the stadiums where he wore it. The garment is elegant in its time-tested simplicity, a block lettered "Boston" affixed to the chest and number "19" on reverse. Interior collar holds "Wilson [size] 42" label, while lower left front tail provides "79" embroidered swatch. Very strong game wear throughout, with some surface scratching to rear numerals which appear to have been inflicted during storage--the distraction is minor. Otherwise, this is a picture-perfect specimen. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
