1979 Barry Foote Game Worn Chicago Cubs Jersey. Gene Mauch may have set the bar too high when he proclaimed that Barry Foote was "the next Johnny Bench" as a rookie in 1973. While capable, Foote never quite reached the lofty expectations of his skipper. The backstop lasted a decade in the Major Leagues though. This "Wilson size 46" powder blue jersey was worn by Foote in the 1979 season. The jersey shows good overall use with fading to the anchor stitching. Some of the stitching to the back number has pulled away. All of the identifiers are created in single-color royal blue tackle twill. The collar features a Wilson size tag and "8 79 2 46" swatch. Some staining on the left sleeve which also has a circular patch. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
