    Description

1978 Rod Carew Game Worn Minnesota Twins Jersey, MEARS A10. Like death and taxes, Rod Carew hitting above the .300 mark was a virtual given. For fifteen straight seasons, Carew finished at .300 or better. When Carew retired from the game in 1985 only five other players could boast such a claim. The hitting machine comfortably slipped into this "Wilson size 42" jersey when he was at the peak of his powers - 1978. That year Carew hit .333 and won the American League batting crown. The powder blue jersey has earned a grade of MEARS A10. Fraying appears on the underscored team name on front. Light wear is shown on the jersey. MEARS explains that because this was the third set issued to Carew in 1978 the use is apropos. Scuffing is visible on the numbers and lettering which does not increase the degree of wear according to the authentication company. "Twins 23" is crafted in two-color tackle twill on front while "Carew 23" takes shape on back. The NOB is in single-color red tackle twill and 4" tall. A period Wilson tag is sewn in the collar, and the tail features a "78 3" white swatch. The left sleeve supports a Twins team patch. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
