    Description

1978 Rod Carew Game Worn Minnesota Twins Jersey, MEARS A10.
Arguably one of the most underrated players occupying a spot in the Baseball Hall of Fame, Carew played Ty Cobb's game long after the attentions of the baseball world had turned to the Babe Ruth model, trading power for placement and brawn for blazing speed. Seven times Carew claimed the American League batting title, the last coming the season he wore this road blue knit, the final year of his service to Minnesota.

"Twins 29" spans the chest in red-on-navy tackle twill, the same format utilized for the "Carew 29" on verso. Left sleeve holds classic team logo patch. Interior collar bears "Wilson [size] 42" label, while lower left front tail reveals an embroidered "78 1" swatch. The experts at MEARS assess game wear as "moderate," apparent in the softening of the tagging and tackle twill, and a light staining of tobacco juice on the chest. An absolutely picture-perfect representation well deserving of its elite grade. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
