1978 Pete Rose Game Worn Cincinnati Reds Jersey. It was one of the most significant years of Charlie Hustle's career, one populated by his entry into the 3,000 Hit Club, his memorable forty-four game hitting streak, and the post-season granting of free agency and subsequent signing by the Phillies. Presented is a road grey knit that shows tremendous wear from the hardest working man in the baseball business, stained with tobacco juice and infield clay, the tackle twill identifiers and tagging soft with salty sweat. "Cincinnati 14" is announced on the chest, with "Rose 14" on verso. Interior collar holds "Wilson [size] 44" label. Swatch at lower left front tail is embroidered "78 1," with a faded "Purchased from Cincinnati Reds" stamp just below. The team often sold old uniforms and cracked bats in the Riverfront Stadium gift shop, the derivation of this particular gamer. A blue sharpie signature on the chest was applied in 1991, and a copy of the signing ticket and a photo of Rose that day are included. Certainly one of the best Rose shirts in the hobby, with outstanding wear, key vintage and ironclad provenance. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
