Description

1978 Carl Yastrzemski Game Worn Jersey. Could this be the jersey that Yaz was wearing as he stood in the shadow of the Green Monster, neck strained skyward, helplessly watching Bucky Dent's long drive disappear into oblivion? It's probably not the memory that most Red Sox fans would wish to recall, but the possibility is certainly there. The home white knit pullover jersey exhibits solid use from the season which saw the Red Sox come within a hair's breadth of the American League East Championship, instead rebuffed to suffer through what would be another twenty-six years before glory returned to Fenway.

The most popular Red Sock since Ted Williams put solid wear into the presented jersey, which features the classic Old English "Red Sox" in red and navy tackle twill lettering on the chest and the retired number "8" on verso. Local Brockton, MA "McAuliffe Uniform Corp." label inside collar is placed above a size "44" tag featuring a tiny black inked "Yaz." The "1978" year tag and washing instructions label appear at lower right exterior tail. A black sharpie signature from the jersey's original owner is tagged with "Game Worn 1978" in Yaz' hand. A simply flawless specimen, well deserving of its MEARS A10 rating. LOA from MEARS. LOA from Lou Lampson.
