World Championship season pinstripes from the Hall of Fame hurler

1978-79 Jim "Catfish" Hunter Game Worn New York Yankees Jersey, MEARS A10. It's arguably the most important Hunter gamer ever offered, a photo-matched beauty that saw action during both the glorious World Championship campaign of 1978, and in Hunter's fifteenth and final season in the Bigs a year later. Attribution to the former comes by way of the embroidered swatch at interior collar that reports, "Hunter 78 1," as well as a perfect photo match to Getty image #88748041 of the Hall of Fame right-hander reacting to a George Brett homer in Game Three of the 1978 American League Championship Series.

The black arm band on the left sleeve serves as evidence of a second season of action for the garment, a sad tribute to Hunter's fallen battery mate Thurman Munson, who perished in his private plane just six weeks before Hunter's final appearance on the mound.

The classic "NY" logo is affixed over the heart, the intersection of pinstripes at the various points on the midnight blue tackle twill identifier providing the tools for a definitive photo match. We should stress that the photograph of Hunter wearing this jersey that is posted in our printed catalog and online is not the aformentioned Getty image, which would cost a considerable sum of licensing money to reproduce. We direct you to the Getty website to view that image. The pictured photo match is an 8x10" image included with the jersey.

Verso provides Hunter's legendary number "29," and the previously discussed Thurman Munson memorial black arm band remains affixed at left sleeve. Lower left front tail holds the proper "Wilson [size] 46" manufacturer's label. Solid wear is evident, the last criterion in an unimprovable assessment by the hobby's top uniform authentication firm. LOA from MEARS, A10.
