1978-79 Graig Nettles Game Worn New York Yankees Jersey with Munson Armband, MEARS A10. Important garment was worn during two of the most important Yankee seasons of the past four decades, one punctuated by great joy, the other by great sadness. An embroidered swatch at interior collar speaks to the former, the "Nettles 78 2" text reporting World Championship vintage. The black armband at left sleeve cuff tells the tragic tale of captain Thurman Munson's sudden and tragic passing in early August of 1979. Classic "NY" logo appears over chest in navy tackle twill, and the number "9," since retired in honor of Roger Maris, appearing on reverse. The shirt exhibits great game wear from the All-Star third baseman. Lower left front tail holds proper "Wilson [size] 42" label. A top-tier representation from one of the best defensive third sackers of all time and American League Home Run King at the position. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
