1977 Thurman Munson World Series Game Six Worn New York Yankees Pants--Photo Matched!
It is one of the most famous days in the long and glorious history of the New York Yankees franchise, one that ended a fifteen-year long World Championship drought with a trifecta of Reggie Jackson long balls on the evening of October 18, 1977. Presented are the home white pants worn by the Yankee captain to complete that long and arduous climb back to baseball's mountaintop, the unique pinstriped pattern perfectly matching images of Munson in the midst of a champagne bath in the jubilant clubhouse following the Game Six clincher.

The pants exhibit marvelous game wear, particularly in the knees where the fabric shows the effects of friction against Munson's armor. A team repair measures about an inch square at back of left leg. Interior waistband holds "Wilson [size] 35" label beside embroidered swatch reporting, "Munson 15 77 22 1."

Remarkably, these pants (and the 1976 Munson jersey likewise presented within this Signature auction) were purchased decades ago at a tri-state area garage sale for about $20 and subsequently worn by our consignor as a Halloween costume. They make their hobby debut in this Signature auction. LOA from Heritage Auctions. LOA from Resolution Photomatching.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
