1977 Greg Luzinski Game Worn & Signed Philadelphia Phillies Jersey - Best Season! In 1977, the Philadelphia Phillies won their second of three straight N.L. East titles led by a bullish left fielder who was the runner-up in the league MVP balloting that season behind the Reds' George Foster. During the most productive offensive season of his fifteen-year Major League career, Greg Luzinski recorded ninety-nine runs scored, thirty-five doubles, and career highs in home runs (39), RBI (130), and batting average (.309). For his efforts, he was named to the All-Star team and finished second in the MVP voting for the second time in three seasons.Powder blue zipper-front road knit worn by The Bull in his greatest pro season displays "19 P" across the chest and "Luzinski 19" on the verso, all sewn-on in maroon on white tackle twill, with maroon and white stretchy trim adorning the shoulders, sleeves, and sides. "Luzinski" in black chainlink on a collar swatch and the "Wilson 48" label in the tail matches other known exemplars. The "77 1" year/set swatch. is one of the two correct tail tagging codes used by the Phillies in 1977. Best of all is the baby blue satin interior collar and button path lining, plus a custom single button sewn on the interior button path below the zipper end. Also, the front of the jersey is signed by The Bull in 9/10 black sharpie.
While the original vertical arch name and nameplate on the verso was removed and replaced with a letter font not used in 1977, the jersey exhibits an entire season's worth of wondrous wear (exhibited on the fabric, identifiers, and tagging) and still presents marvelously.
