Description

1975 Willie Stargell Game Worn Pittsburgh Pirates Jersey & Pants, MEARS A10. Gray knit pullover reports "Pirates" arched across the chest, with "8" offset below and on the verso, all sewn on in black on gold tackle twill. Tagging in the lower left tail includes a "Wilson 46" label and rectangular gray knit swatch with "8 46 75" in black chainlink. Matching pants feature a most secure zipper, two-snap and drawstring front. Inside the black/white/gold waistband are found a "Wilson 38" label and a rectangular gray knit swatch with "8 38 24 75" in black chainlink. "43" in black and green laundry marker also appears in the pants from minor league use.

The uniform exhibits tremendous season-long Major League wear by Pops (and later minor league wear) as evidenced by the suppleness, pliability, and fading of the identifiers and tagging.

Stargell finished seventh in the N.L. MVP balloting the year he wore this uniform, putting up a statline of twenty-two home runs, ninety RBI, and a .295 batting average. One of the best Willie Stargell complete game uniforms you will ever see, it is certainly worthy of even the most discerning high-end uniform collection. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
