    Description

1975 Tug McGraw Game Worn Philadelphia Phillies Jersey. When Tug McGraw plied his trade, the save was a three or four inning affair. Multiple rallies would need to be extinguished if that coveted save was to be secured. To some, McGraw's whimsical humor was his calling card. But to those in the know, McGraw was a fierce competitor who was always there to answer the bell. This "Wilson [size] 42" jersey was worn when McGraw was dominating the National League in 1975. Heavy use is shown throughout with sun fading on the single-color burgundy tackle twill numbers and team emblem. The anchor stitching on back has pulled away in spots. This was sent down to the minors following the '75 season as the nameplate is missing. "Aguaya" is written in the collar (and subsequently blackened out) in black marker. The collar does sport a "McGraw" swatch. Two labels appear in the tail: Wilson size and "42 75 Set 1." The left sleeve includes a bicentennial patch worn by teams in 1976. Moderate staining appears in the collar region. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
