1975 San Diego Padres Game Worn Uniform. A very tough single-year style for the devoted uniform collectors in our hobby family, and the first season that the club posted uniform numbers on the front of their road shirts. Oddly, this jersey has embroidered "74 44" swatch sewn in tail, but the 1974 away style was deep yellow rather than grey. "San Diego 46" is in bold brown and yellow tackle twill on chest, with "46" repeated on verso, a number sported by right-handed reliever Ralph Garcia in 1974, and likely again by him in '75, though he did not see game action that season. We also note that the number has been changed by the team from "33" to its current "46," suggesting that it saw some use from pitcher Gary Ross as well. "Wilson [size] 44" label is in collar and use is considerable, likely from the minor leagues. Matching pants offer "44 75 36 28 1/2" embroidered strip tag beside "Wilson [size] 36" label inside waistband. Extensive team repairs are again likely the result of minor league reincarnation. LOA from Dan Knoll & Dave Bushing/ SCD Authentic.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
