1975 J.R. Richard Game Worn Houston Astros Jersey, MEARS A10 -- One Year Style.
The sudden and tragic passing of Astros pitcher Don Wilson remains a mystery to this day, with signs pointing toward suicide but the official coroner's ruling recording an accidental death. The terrible event makes this one of the toughest and most desirable Astros styles in the hobby, bearing the memorial number "40" patch on the left sleeve, digits retired by the franchise this season out of respect to Wilson.

Wilson's teammate J.R. Richard wore this "Sand Knit size 50" pullover jersey when he finally earned his way into the Astros' rotation in 1975. Previously, Richard had split his time between Houston and the minors. The rainbow knit jersey screams seventies with its unique color configuration. MEARS graded this lightweight beauty A10. "Astros" is heat pressed across the chest while "Richard" is arched to a nameplate over the reverse digits. The number is screened to a white knit swatch which was only used for one season. The tail has Astros exclusivity and size tags sewn on. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
