1974 Jim "Catfish" Hunter Signed Game Worn Oakland A's Jersey - Cy Young Award & World Series Championship Season. "I would give Cat the Cy Young Award, the Most Valuable Player Award, the Academy Award, and the kitchen sink." - Reggie Jackson, 1974.

Catfish Hunter was always a winner. He pitched a perfect game, won twenty or more games for five straight seasons, and was the ace on seven division champions, six A.L. champions, and five World Series champions.

The jersey on offer here dates from Hunter's finest season, when he captured the A.L. Cy Young Award, after recording a league best twenty-five wins and 2.49 ERA, while leading the Oakland Athletics to their third consecutive World Series championship. This was also the year that A's owner Charlie Finley reneged on his agreement to pay Hunter deferred annuities which resulted in him being declared a free agent. With every Major League team (with the exception of the Giants) bidding for his services, Cat became baseball's first multi-million-dollar free agent, announcing his new $3.2 million dollar contract over five years with the New York Yankees on New Year's Eve.

Spectacularly colorful home/road knit pullover displays "A's" over the left breast and "Hunter 27" on the verso, all sewn-on in green and white tackle twill. Meanwhile, green/white/gold/green stretchy trim adorns the collar and sleeve cuffs. Front-center tail tagging reports "McAuliffe," "44," "1974" and a washing label. The jersey is autographed across the front "Jim 'Catfish' Hunter" in NRMT green sharpie, and is completely original, with slight staining on the front, and light wear on the identifiers.
