Description

1974 Carlton Fisk Game Worn Signed Boston Red Sox Jersey. Broken bones, bruises and contusions were challenges Carlton Fisk had to deal with on a yearly basis. Such is the life for a backstop who earns his keep blocking baseballs, dodging errant bats and having to deal with home plate collisions. They didn't make them tougher than Pudge Fisk, who attributed his brute strength to splitting wood during the off-season.

Despite missing appreciable parts of the 1974 season due to a near career-ending injury, Fisk found time to fit into this "McAuliffe" home jersey. The pullover knit top showcases heavy game use with noticeable puckering on the two-tone "Boston" and reverse "27." An occasional stain is found on the jersey and the areas outlining the numbers have taken on a pinkish hue from launderings. Following Fisk's use of the jersey, it was sent down to Pawtucket and donned by a big league hopeful. The left sleeve contains an "r176" patch, which commemorates America's Bi-Centennial. The Paw Sox wore the patches in 1976.

Sewn in the inner tail are the following tags: "1974," "McAuliffe Uniform Corp.," "[size] 44" and washing instructions. Fisk sealed the deal with a stellar blue sharpie signature on front. This pullover has all the attributes one would seek in finding a top-tier gamer of the durable Hall of Fame catcher. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
