Description

1973 Whitey Lockman Game Worn Chicago Cubs Coach's Jersey.
Whitey Lockman replaced Hall of Fame skipper Leo Durocher in hopes of ending the Cubs World Series drought in 1972. Despite his initial success, Lockman lasted three seasons before passing the baton. The popular first baseman wore this "Wilson size 44" road jersey when he was calling the shots in 1973. Adequate use is exhibited on the knit pullover with fading to the anchor stitching and identifier softening. A Wilson size tag is joined by a "16 73 2 44" swatch in the collar. A lone "73" year tag occupies the tail. The left sleeve is accentuated with a team patch. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
