    Description

1973 Don Kessinger Game Worn Chicago Cubs Jersey, MEARS A9.5. The slick-fielding shortstop was always more adept with the leather than the lumber, though his average did improve after Cubs manager Leo Durocher encouraged him to give switch-hitting a try. Presented is a road grey jersey from his second half of his dozen seasons with the Cubbies, featuring a bold blue tackle twill block lettered "Chicago 11" on the chest, with those digits repeated on verso. Broken anchor stitching here results in the half-point deducted by MEARS. Team logo patch remains affixed at left sleeve. "Wilson [size] 40" label appears at interior collar above an embroidered swatch announcing jersey number, year, set and size: "11 73 2 40." The year is repeated with an embroidered "73" swatch in the tail. Solid wear is evident. Black sharpie signature rating 9/10 at lower left front completes the package. LOA from MEARS, A9.5. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autograph). Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
