1972 Jim Hegan Game Worn New York Yankees Jersey. The original front "NY" was replaced by "Yankees" in felt for farm club action, and the original "44" on the back was replaced by a felt "44." But the pinstriped shell is the genuine article, worn by the former Indians All-Star in a coaching capacity in the Bronx. Interior collar holds chain-link "Hegan" on cotton-flannel swatch, while lower left front tail reports "Wilson [size] 44" above a chain-linked "72" year designator. Solid wear from secondary usage. Letter of provenance from a youth ballplayer, not far from the Yanks' spring training grounds in Fort Lauderdale, explains that the team wardrobe was gifted to his team in 1976. Letter of provenance from owner. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
