1972 Earl Weaver Game Worn & Signed Baltimore Orioles Jersey with Special Cigarette Pouch & Hand Written Retirement Notes. Known for kicking dirt at umpires, Earl Weaver had toned down his act considerably as the years went on. The Hall of Fame skipper had a simple rationale when asked about his formula of success: "Pitching, defense and a three-run homer." The second man to steer the Baltimore Orioles to a World Series championship, Weaver wore this "Rawlings size 40" jersey when he was calling the shots for the Orioles in 1972. He probably had more than a few squabbles with the men in blue when he donned the offered home knit garment. A special cigarette pouch is found on the inside so Weaver could enjoy a little nicotine in-between innings. The button-up jersey shows consistent use with an equal distribution of puckering on the two-color tackle twill team name and numbers. Black and orange trim surrounds the neck while the sleeve ends have a similar color scheme with white added. The rear interior features a Rawlings size tag and suspended "Set 1 #8P 1972" flag tag. Weaver signed the reverse in blue felt tip.

This listing also includes thirteen note cards (6x4.5") built into a 26x33.5" display which were used by Weaver for his retirement speech. Weaver delves into his baseball story, thanks the organization and tips the cap to his family. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
