1971 Steve Garvey Game Worn Rookie Jersey. Though the Gold Glove infielder had seen brief action in both 1969 and 1970, baseball statisticians consider 1971 to be Garvey's true rookie season, the first year he topped either 130 at-bats or forty-five games of work. This home white flannel shirt exhibits monstrous wear from early in this All-Star career, with the blue and red felt that spell "Dodgers 6" on the chest holding solid but the number "6" on verso beginning to split from its intense rookie ride. The fabric of the jersey body is pillow-soft from use. Note the "W.A. Goodman & Sons" label in the collar as well, which is sweat-bleached almost to the point of illegibility. Special embroidered swatch in the tail offers all the details: "Garvey, 44/3, Set B 1971." A perfect black marker autograph from Garvey dates to the year of usage, with a "5-10-71" inscription in his hand. Certainly one of the very finest Garvey jerseys on earth. LOA from Dan Knoll & Dave Bushing/ SCD Authentic.
