Description

1971 Jerry Moses Game Worn California Angels Jersey. This 1971 Angels swansong flannel represents the final year the franchise performed in that medium before switching to knits. It also differed from the previous season's road jerseys in that names were added to the backs. The jersey exemplar on offer here was originally produced for pitcher Gene Brabender who was acquired form Milwaukee. After he failed to make the team in pre-season play, the jersey was was re-numbered and lettered for catcher Jerry Moses who wore it during the season.

The button-down gray flannel displays "Angels" and "19" (below and offset to the right) on the front and "Moses 19" on the verso, all sewn-on in navy blue and red tackle twill. An Angels patch on the left sleeve, red/blue/red piping, and "McAuliffe, 46, 71, Brabender" tagging in the tail round out this fine period specimen. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
