Description

1971 Harry "The Hat" Walker Game Worn Houston Astros Jersey. His celebrated nickname grew out of his habit of methodically adjusting his cap between every pitch as a player, but his greatest claim to fame was his batting title during the historic 1947 National League season best remembered for the debut of Jackie Robinson. Nearly a quarter century later Walker held the reins of the Houston Astros, which he represented on the road with this grey flannel garment. "Houston" is spelled across the chest in orange and navy tackle twill block, with "Walker 25" similarly applied to reverse (name on back is restored). Left sleeve holds team logo patch. Lower left front tail is tagged "Rawlings [size] 44" with dry cleaning label and "Set 1 #8P 1971" flap tag. Embroidered swatch in collar is absent, but stitching path remains. Solid wear evident. A tough single-season style. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
