Description

1971 Dave Bristol Game Worn Milwaukee Brewers Jersey - The First Manager in Team History. Dave Bristol was in a precarious situation in 1970. Nobody knew where the skipper's team would end up. Would it be Seattle or Milwaukee? Less than a week before the season was to start, Milwaukee became home of the ballclub. Bristol, the Brewers' first manager, donned this "Spalding [size] 40" jersey during the team's second season. The pullover shows extensive use with puckering on the two-tone tackle twill identifiers. "Brewers 4" is applied on front while "4" is captured on the reverse. Special yellow and blue durene trim surrounds the sleeve ends. "Bristol 71-40" is featured on a swatch in the collar directly above the manager's 10/10 blue felt tip signature. Minor surface degradation appears on the label. Three tags are sewn together in the tail: "71," "Spalding Professional" and size. No restoration visible. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
