A photo matched gamer from Wrigley's hot corner

1970 Ron Santo Game Worn Chicago Cubs Jersey. He was one of the most beloved figures in Chicago Cubs franchise history, and while fans and teammates alike vociferously advocated for his Cooperstown induction, the call would not come until two years after Santo's passing in 2010. But the ever-optimistic Santo made it clear that it was the affection of Wrigley residents he valued the most, telling an emotional crowd at his 2003 jersey retirement ceremony, "This is my Hall of Fame!"

This home white pinstriped flannel found the star third baseman in his prime, one of four seasons he flipped the third digit on the RBI odometer. His power numbers were likewise among his career best, with sixty extra-base hits, including twenty-six home runs.

This jersey derives from the same source that provides this Platinum Night auction with a 1970 Cubs representation from fellow Cubs icon Billy Williams. The team logo patch exhibits the toning of infield clay, giving way to the popular bear cub patch on left sleeve and a blue tackle twill number "10" on reverse. Interior collar holds an embroidered swatch recounting the pertinent details of the garment: "10-70-2-42." The "1970" vintage is repeated below the "Wilson [size] 42" label at lower left tail, embroidered directly into the jersey body.

The garment exhibits fine game wear but no signs of damage or alteration. This is just the third Santo jersey to appear on the hobby's major auction block in the past twenty years, and the first since 2009. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
