    Description

1970 Ron Blomberg Game Worn New York Yankees Uniform.
Selected by the Yankees with the first overall pick of the 1967 amateur draft, first baseman Ron Blomberg was a Yankee stalwart during the franchise's "transition Years." Beloved by the New York fans for his demeanor, steady glove, and occasional flurries of power, Ron was a lifetime .293 hitter who performed well in the clutch and holds the distinction of being MLB's first designated hitter.

On offer here is Blomberg's complete 1970 gray flannel road uniform. The jersey displays "New York" arched across the front with "12" on the verso in soft blue felt. Tagging includes a "Wilson 42" in the lower left tail and "Blomberg 70-42" embroidered in dark blue thread on a rectangular, gray swatch in the collar. The matching pants have a "Wilson 34" tag and "Blomberg 70-25"" both sewn/embroidered directly into the waistband. Also appearing in the waistband are "70, 34, 12" in vintage black marker, identifying the year, waist size, and player number. The jersey shows definite season-long game wear but is also in remarkable condition and completely original. A simple yet timeless uniform design that would make a tremendous display piece in any collection. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
