Description
1970 John Roseboro Game Worn Washington Senators Jersey. He was Campy's back-up catcher during his rookie season of 1957 in Brooklyn, and a year later he was the starter, claiming the role after the tragic automobile accident that left his Hall of Fame mentor paralyzed. But Roseboro's primary association is his 1965 assault victimhood at the hands (or, rather, the Louisville Slugger) of Hall of Fame pitcher Juan Marichal, one of the ugliest on-field episodes in Major League history. This home white flannel finds Roseboro in the final season of his fourteen-year career, back to a back-up catcher role under the watchful eye of manager Ted Williams. "Senators" and number "13" adorn obverse and verso respectively in red and navy tackle twill. "Wilson [size] 44" label appears at interior collar, while "70" is embroidered directly into lower left front tail. Wear is appropriately light for Roseboro's limited service. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
