    Description

1970 Bob Lemon Game Worn Kansas City Royals Jersey. The Hall of Fame hurler took over the reins of the Royals from Charlie Metro on June 9th and battled through the franchise's understandably bumpy second season Lemon's highlight of that 65-97 campaign may very well have been this beautiful cotton flannel gamer presented here, completely original with "Royals" diagonally scripted across the chest and "2" on the verso, all sewn-on in blue tackle twill. Meanwhile, the seven-button front also reports blue piping around the collar and sleeve cuffs and the inaugural appearance of the Royals patch on the left sleeve (the baseball centennial patch preempted this beauty in 1969). Tagging includes a "Set 2-1970" in blue chainlink on a white flannel swatch and a "Wilson 44" label in the tail. This specimen exhibits game wear but remains in pristine display condition. A real beauty! This lot also incudes Lemon's 1971 Topps trading card. LOA from Heritage Auctions. LOA from Sports Investors Authentication.
