1970 Bert Campaneris Game Worn Jersey. The embodiment of the controversial Charlie O. Finley era in Athletics team history, this jersey once owned and operated by the club's star shortstop is still seen as a slap in the face to propriety by many a baseball purist. For the many who believed, and continue to believe, in home white and road grey, in sleeves, and in surnames (or no names at all) across the shoulders, this crazy garment continues to annoy, but the rest of us have a special place for the style in our hearts. The pale kelly green vest features Campaneris' number "19" on right chest and "A's" over the heart, applied in green and yellow tackle twill. The number "19" is repeated on verso, under the "Campy" nickname in pure green. "McAuliffe Uniform Corp" labeling in tail appears above "70" year and "40" size tags just below. Wear is solid from a season that saw Campaneris top the American League with forty-two base thefts. It must be noted that the vast majority of Athletics jerseys from this era were reincarnated as minor league gamers, with names and logos stripped for the purpose. This 100% original shirt is a rare find indeed, appealing to a different sort of baseball purist the way few others could. LOA from Lou Lampson.
