1969 Wally Moon Game Worn Jersey. Famous for his "Moon shots" as a player with the Cardinals and Dodgers, Wally suited up during the Centennial season in this jersey as a coach for the San Diego Padres, his only year with the franchise. Home white flannel offers "Padres" in brown and yellow tackle twill across the chest, and number "6" on verso. Wear is excessive, clearly from a second life in the minors, with scattered staining, a hole under the right arm, missing sleeve patches, and two replaced buttons. Embroidered in brown thread in the tail is "42 Moon 6," below which is a "Rawlings [size] 42" label and a washing tag with "Set 1 1969" flap tag affixed. A tough first-year jersey from this expansion team. Though beginning with a base grade of 10 for authenticity, the authenticators have subtracted seven points for the excessive wear, finalizing a grade of MEARS A3. LOA from Dave Bushing. LOA from Lou Lampson.
