Description

1969 Ray Oyler Spring Training Game Worn Seattle Pilots Jersey. A shortstop for the Detroit Tigers from 1965-68, Oyler was selected in the expansion draft by the Pilots after Motor City's World Championship season and sported this rare garment in spring training for the brand-new Pilots. It's a simple design, with "Pilots" in royal blue tackle twill on the chest and number "1" on verso (thus arguably the "first" Pilots jersey). Collar holds a "Wilson [size] 36" label, correct for Oyler's slim build. Stitching on rear numeral has some breaks but digit remains firmly affixed. Some soiling in collar is not a concern. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
