    Description

1969 Jimmy Wynn Game Worn Houston Astros Jersey. An unlikely long ball artist at five foot eight and 170 pounds, Wynn earned the nickname "The Toy Cannon" for his thunderous bat, and the honor of jersey retirement for his eleven years of Houston service. Here we find a road grey flannel from a 1969 season punctuated by thirty-three home run clouts. "Houston" arches across the chest in navy and orange felt and tackle twill, with the retired number "24" taking up the rear. Baseball Centennial and team logo patches adorn left and right sleeves respectively. Embroidered swatch inside collar notes size, jersey number and year: "40 24 69." Lower left front tail features "Rawlings [size] 40" tagging, washing instructions label and "Set 1 1969" flap tag. Solid wear with some light damage to rear numerals, otherwise very strong condition. LOA from Heritage Auctions. LOA from MEARS, graded A8.5.
