    Description

1969 Jim Northrup Game Worn Detroit Tigers Jersey. He's best remembered for his clutch triple in Game Seven of the 1968 World Series, scoring the first two runs of a tense pitchers' duel that proved to be all the Tigers needed to take the World Championship. Presented is a road grey flannel worn as defending Champion during the 1969 season, essentially identical in design to that which he was wearing during that historic moment a year earlier. "Detroit" spans the chest in navy canvas twill, with number "5" applied to right sleeve and verso, the latter missing the lower half of the digit but leaving behind the thread remnants of the stitching. The outline of the removed Major League Centennial patch appears at left sleeve. Interior collar holds proper "Rawlings [size] 42" label, while lower left front tail repeats the size labeling along with a washing instructions tag and a "Set 1 1969" flap tag. Solid game wear evident. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
