    Description

1969 Gene Oliver Game Worn Chicago Cubs Uniform. It was a collapse like no other. The Chicago Cubs of 1969 all but had their division wrapped up until a September swoon intervened. The lovable losers earned their moniker by losing seventeen out their final twenty-five games to finish second to the Amazin's. This "Wilson size 44" jersey experienced that fall from grace when Gene Oliver wore it. Following the season, the jersey was changed to "52" and subsequently used in Spring Training the next year. Remnants of where the 100 years patch once stood are visible on the right sleeve end. The team and both sets of numbers are in single-color blue tackle twill. The collar features a swatch "12-69-3-44" while the tail has a Wilson tag and "1969" straight stitched near the manufacturer's reference. Also included are: 1971 "Wilson size 36" road pants, stirrups and belt. The waistline holds a Wilson size tag and swatch (34-1971 Set 4- 36-26) and Wilson date code. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
