    Description

Charlie Hustle claims his first of three career batting titles!

1968 Pete Rose Game Worn & Signed Cincinnati Reds Jersey, MEARS A10.
It's one of the finest representations from the Hit King held in private hands, a home white flannel beauty that earns every bit of its flawless MEARS rating. It took the greatest pitching performance in post-war history--Bob Gibson's Cy Young-winning 22-9, 1.12 ERA masterpiece--to wrest the 1968 National League MVP Award from Rose's deserving hands. Rose would post a stellar .335 average to claim his first batting championship, his 210 hits blasting him past the 1,000 milestone for his career en route to immortality.

Rose flannels are particularly tough, and this glorious specimen remains in 100% original and unaltered condition, bearing the kind of "moderate to heavy" game wear (according to the experts at MEARS) that one would expect for the Major Leagues' hardest-working employee. A red tackle twill number "14" and chenille and tackle twill team logo patch balance the design on obverse, while verso reports, "Rose 14."

Lower interior button path holds "Rawlings [size] 42" tagging above a washing instructions label that anchors a "Set 1 1968" flap tag. Lower left front tail reveals "42 68" embroidered directly into the body. Rose himself adds the cherry on top in the form of a 9+/10 blue sharpie signature with "Hit King #4256" notation. It's a garment as deserving of a home in the Baseball Hall of Fame as the man who wore it a half century ago. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
