1968 Matty Alou Game Worn Pittsburgh Pirates Jersey. He was the 1966 National League Batting Champ, assuming the title from teammate Roberto Clemente who would both reclaim it in 1967. Home white flannel vest exhibits heavy wear from the 1968 campaign, with significant pilling of the fabric and light staining. "Pirates 18" is applied to the chest in black and gold felt, with "18" repeated in larger format on verso. "Alou" is embroidered directly into the jersey body between a "Rawlings [size] 40" label and a washing instructions tag that holds a "Set 1 1968" flap at its eastern edge. A solid specimen from the most successful baseball family ever to emerge from the island nation of the Dominican Republic. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
