    Description

1967 Joe Niekro Game Worn Rookie Jersey. Along with his Hall of Fame sibling Phil, Joe formed half of the most successful fraternal pitching duo in the history of the game, contributing 221 career victories to their joint total of 539. Here we find one of the first jerseys worn by the younger Niekro as he toured with the Chicago Cubs during the '67 season. This lightweight flannel beauty sports an arcing two-tone "Chicago" across the chest, with Joe's number "48" in identical tackle twill on verso. A team logo patch is still affixed to the left sleeve, while evidence of a patch removal is apparent on the right. An embroidered swatch in the collar reads, "48 - 67 Set 4." A "Wilson [size] 42" tag is sewn in the tail. The jersey shows the signs of strong use from an auspicious ten and seven debut season. Short of the patch removal, there are no alterations of any kind. A fantastic gamer from this superstar knuckleballer. LOA from Lou Lampson.
