    Description

1967 George Altman Game Worn Chicago Cubs Jersey. George Altman enjoyed a very interesting baseball career and life. He has played baseball in the Negro Leagues (1955), minor leagues (1956, 1958, 1967), U.S. Army (1957), Major Leagues (1959-67), Cuban Professional League (1959-60), and Nippon Professional Baseball (1968-75). As a Chicago Cub, the 6-4 200-pound Altman was a three-time All-Star who had his best season in 1961 when he registered twenty-seven dingers, ninety-six RBI, and hit .303. After his playing days were over, he was a commodities trader and bought a seat on the Chicago Board of Trade. In 2013, he published his autobiography "George Altman: My Baseball Journey from the Negro Leagues to the Majors and Beyond."

Here is Altman's beautiful gamer from his last season with the Cubs. The button-down road gray flannel, with attractive blue marbling to the fabric, has "Chicago" arched across the chest and "29" on the verso, all sewn-on in blue on red tackle twill. There is a cute Cubs patch on the left sleeve and blue/red piping adorns the collar and sleeve cuffs. Tags include a gray swatch in the collar with "29-67 Set 4" in blue chainlink, and a "Wilson 42" label in the tail. This exemplar exhibits game wear, remains in fantastic condition, and displays as one of the most attractive minimalist uniform designs of all-time. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
