The third Robinson flannel ever to reach the hobby's auction block

1967 Frank Robinson Game Worn Baltimore Orioles Jersey. You can bet every eye in the crowd was on this jersey, an unwelcome sight to hometown crowds hosting the man whose forty-nine homers, 122 RBI's and .316 batting average had earned him the American League's Triple Crown the previous season. This second-year Orioles gamer for the former Cincinnati Red found the defending World Champion once again register in the top five for all three Triple Crown metrics, but of course an outfielder from Boston named Carl Yastrzemski would match Robinson's 1966 heroics this year.

The classic design is one utilized for the bulk of the team's existence to that point, featuring a scripted "Baltimore" in Halloween coloring on the chest, joined by a number "20" fashioned from the same orange and black felt material. Verso repeats the digits in larger format. We note that the "F. Robinson" spanning the shoulders here is a top-quality modern restoration, suggesting the likelihood that the original name was stripped for some form of secondary usage. The outline of a removed patch on the right sleeve must also be addressed, though this is only apparent upon the closest of inspection. Certainly any deviation from original format will be discernible only by a sharp-eyed uniform expert.

Interior collar holds an embroidered swatch, identical to other known period team examples, reading "44 Set 1 67 20," the final digits assuring Robinson originality. Lower left front tail holds tagging by manufacturer "Spalding" and another addressing laundering instructions. Solid wear is evident throughout, with very minimal separation between the orange and black felt on part of the rear numeral, invisible upon display. A tough and highly desirable Hall of Fame flannel from the dead center of Robinson's twenty-one season playing career. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph). Full LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph). LOA from MEARS, A6.5. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
