    Description

1967 Bill Mazeroski Game Worn Pittsburgh Pirates Jersey, MEARS A10. Though the Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman will always be remembered best for his Game Seven walk-off home run to snatch the 1960 World Series from the dominant New York Yankees, the path to Maz' Hall of Fame induction was paved with leather, not lumber. The eight-time Gold Glover is still considered one of the greatest middle infielders of all time, blessed with enormous range and a sharpshooter's rifle of an arm.

He earned his final Gold Glove the season he toured the National League in this road grey flannel vest, recording a sparkling .981 fielding average and leading the National League for the eighth consecutive season for double plays turned as a second baseman. He appeared as a member of the starting line-up in his seventh All-Star Game this year as well, possibly wearing this jersey as a National League visitor to Anaheim Stadium.

This classic Steeltown style features black and gold felt on grey flannel, the former reporting "Pirates 9" on front and a lone number "9" on reverse. Black and gold piping rings the collar and sleeve holes. All seven buttons are original. "MacGregor [size] 44" label inside collar, with a second "MacGregor Set 1 1967" label at interior lower button path, above a washing instructions label. Solid game wear is evident, but there is no damage or staining to report. A picture-perfect specimen from the 2001 Hall of Fame inductee. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
